Captains Cottage Cushions

March 8th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

Life has been busy in 2012 with the aftermath of the Christmas rush, which always surprises me how many people order gifts in January!!

One of my favourite products is when I get to do a one off for customers….  and I have recently done a couple of cushions for the interior of a beautiful holiday cottage in Cornwall.

How this works is that the customer sends me the colours of the fabrics within the room and I then work up the designs.

This is the finished result and features in the brochure!

This is the clients second holiday cottage I have made cushions for, the first was Number 2, Mackerel Cottage

Mother’s Day

February 19th, 2012 § 2 comments § permalink

Its that time of year again and nearly Mothers Day  and I’ve had a lot of requests for hangers for Mother’s Day.

The trend for slogans and sayings has really taken off and are now one of my best sellers and these are 2 of the new ones

I love this one as it sums up what all Mothers should do a lot of………snoozing!! Although those mothers of young children perhaps don’t get this very often…

Lemon Curd

May 31st, 2011 § 5 comments § permalink

Well what can I say about Lemon Curd  other than it is so good it wont last long in the fridge.

this is the easiest thing I have ever made and can be used in lots of yummy ways

3 eggs lightly beaten

Juice and zest of 2 large lemons

3oz Butter and 8oz Sugar

Put all ingredients into a pan and put on a low heat and keep stirring all the time until the mixture thickens.

You can at this stage strain the mixture but I never do as I like the lemony bits of zest in my curd.

Ladle into sterilised jars and it keeps in the fridge for a week – mine is always gone by the end of the week!!

(Makes two jars)

Fabulous Fish and Chips in Dartmouth

May 17th, 2011 § 1 comment § permalink

A few weeks ago we went on a fantastic holiday to Devon to a great place called http://www.gitcombe.co.uk/

It is our 4th trip here and if you have children its the best place to hang out for a week. While walking along the front at Dartmouth on our last evening we stumbled across this fish and chip shop……

THE ROCKFISH

The reason we decided to go in was that the Michelin starred restaurant 3 doors down was taking delivery of a whole order of fish and chips for the staff. We figured that if it was good enough for them , it would be good enough for us.

Wow what a place……we were seated and given a pot of pencils and actively encouraged to draw on the paper table cloths

After you have finished ( and we spent almost 3 hours eating and drawing) your meal they put the drawings on the ceiling

The food was amazing – I had scallops and chips with the most amazing fennel salad, this is how all fish and chip shops should be!

ROCKFISH. DARTMOUTH. DEVON.

So if your in Dartmouth you must take a look and have some fish and chips

A right royal knees up!!

Quick Pizza

April 13th, 2011 § 5 comments § permalink

I was bought up on these pizzas as they were always in the freezer as mum would make a huge batch of them. Originally my mum used just a plain tin of tomatoes and a tin of tuna – The great thing about this recipe is that you can use what you have in the fridge or cupboards. So for all the people out there who have asked me for the recipe. Here it is……

Base:

6oz SRFlour

1 1/2 oz butter or marg

1 1/2 cheddar cheese

1 small onion grated

1 egg

Put butter, cheese and flour in a magi mix and blitz, add the onion and egg and blitz until a ball of dough.

Spilt the mix into 4 and roll out on a floured surface into 1cm deep bases

Now for the topping.

Tomato – either use just a plain tin of tomatos or any pasta sauce and spread over the base leaving a 1cm edge. I used a chilli sauce on these.

Topping – originally I use tinned tuna but this one i used a jar of marinated mushrooms. olives and artichokes with bacon on the top. You can use any thing you like.

Lastly scatter with cheese and (dried mixed herbs if you are using a plain tin of tomato’s)

put on a greased baking sheet and bake for 25-30 mins at 180 c
